These are what I would say are the best books on geopolitics. The key lesson is that the United States is ultimately poised to prevail through the geopolitical storms. Of course one can just say that but if you look at some history and some geography you will come to the same conclusion as I have.
These books are what I would say make for a great starting base to understand what is happening today and why it's happening. The first book gives a solid overview as to why the West has come to become so rich compared to the rest of the world.
This book is a solid introduction to geopolitics and the practical results of it. More importantly it explains how Europe came to "rule" the world from the end of the 15th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
It's about a scientist who works to understand the difference between a tribe in New Guinea and an advanced nation like France. The author was a pioneer in his time. If you're more of a documentary watcher check it out below. It's an older documentary but does a good job explaining how some of us came out of our primitive ways and how it affected the geopolitics of the new world.
On caveat though is that this author's hypothesis has been challenged with regards to what has happened in Africa. In fairness no one really knows exactly why Africa has remained such an impoverished place. That's why I recommend focusing on the parts that discuss America.
One of the best books on geopolitics gives us a template to understand the future. What is good about this book is that it shows us where America has been in great detail. In fact it is divided into two books because it covers so much from the US inception to today. Did you think that our current political landscape was the the first time we had such tension between Americans?
Do you know what the real weapon the United States has to acquire new territory? Hint: It's not the military.
Check out this book (or books) when you can because you'll have a better understanding of the future by knowing the past.
You'll notice how a lot of the best books on geopolitics go into history. We are finally getting closer to a more contemporary age. The author, Peter Zeihan, is a geopolitical analyst who does a great job explaining the geopolitical dynamics of the world today. This book goes into why the world is decoupling and what the fate of the United States is.
What got me into Peter Zeihan's books was his writing style and the depth into which he goes into. If you want to get an idea of his take on where the world is going then watch the video below. Granted this interview was made in 2020 but you can get an idea of his take from this.
The author of this book, George Friedman, is a futurist and geopolitical analyst.
He tells us the tale of the United States through various cycles....80 cycles to be exact. With this take on the US you get an idea of what's to come in your lifetime and when.
I recommend this book to understand the American psyche and why everything happens in 80 years. If you're a fan of US history too this book will be enlightening.
One thing I like about The Storm Before the Calm is that it's easy to read.
From the same author as Disunited Nations, this book goes deeper into the United States from a geographic point of view. I also find that it is made to be one of the best books on geopolitics for America because it gives a detailed view of the future based on current geographical and demographic trends.
The author Peter Zeihan has made an edited version of this book which I recommend you get.
With these books you can better understand what's happening in the United States so that you can better choose where you want to expatriate. Even better still it might make you want to find a place for yourself Stateside. As we move into the future it is undeniable that future territory will find itself joining the American sphere sooner or later. The question is: what territory and where will you be when that happens.
